History

John Jameson, a Scottish lawyer who moved to Dublin, Ireland to marry his wife, Margaret Haig, founded Jameson Irish Whiskey in 1780. He established the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin and began producing whiskey. Jameson’s attention to detail and use of the best quality ingredients made his whiskey very popular, and in the early 1800s, he became the largest whiskey producer in Ireland, exporting his product worldwide.

The 19th century brought challenges to the Irish whiskey industry, such as the introduction of blended scotch and the potato famine. Despite these challenges, Jameson continued to thrive and innovate. In 1966, the Bow Street Distillery merged with two other Irish distilleries to form Irish Distillers, which helped to revitalize the industry and led to the creation of new types of Irish whiskey.

Today, Jameson is one of the most well-known and popular Irish whiskeys globally. It is produced in Ireland and owned by the French company Pernod Ricard. Jameson offers a variety of different types, including Jameson Original, Jameson Black Barrel, and Jameson Caskmates, aged in beer barrels. Jameson continues to innovate while maintaining its rich history.
