Port Sour Cocktial

What do a little bit of Port and some orange have to do with a sour cocktail? Let us find out!

We are doing something slightly different. We are still making a cocktail, but what we are creating is a Port Sour Cocktail. And how did this come about? You might ask because Port is something you usually would not do much with, except drink it straight in a fancy little glass after dinner.

So, I sat down the other day and said to myself, you know, self, what do I like to drink? And I said, Port, and then I said again, well, what else do I like to drink? And I said, Port. Okay. However, I wanted to do something different. So, I thought about my love of sour cocktails. Now what?

Could I make this into a port sour? I did not see any recipes for it. So, I figured why not try it? It is going to be different. And I know that if I take my spirit and a little bit of citrus and a little bit of a sweetener, for example, a simple syrup, you can do it if you get it in the proper proportions.

So today, we are going to make a port sour for the first time.

Today I show you how to make the Port Sour. This Port Sour is simple and easy to make and easy to drink. the Orange Notes really shine through with the lemon coming in behind it. Who ever thought that a Port Sour would be so good.


  • 1.75 oz Tawny Port
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • .5 oz Simple Syrup
  • .5 oz Orange Juice
  • 1 Egg White


  • Add all ingredients to the Shaker Tin.
    1.75 oz Tawny Port, 1 oz Lemon Juice, .5 oz Simple Syrup, .5 oz Orange Juice, 1 Egg White
  • Shake with out ice for 10 seconds.
  • Add ice and shake for 10 seconds.
  • Pour into fresh ice in a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with a dehydrated Orange wheel.
