The Yellow Bird Cocktail is noted in the New Craft of The Cocktail by Dale Degreoff as an original creation. Interestingly, between the original Craft of The Cocktail and the revised edition. Dale suggests using Mount Gay Eclipse Rum in the new edition. However, we used Appleton Reserve 8 with the Galiano Vanilla and Dry Curacao, which gives it a light sweetness with orange notes, with the rum standing proud. This cocktail is an excellent sipper for after-dinner. Try the Yellow Bird Cocktail out and let me know what you think.

  • 2 oz Jamaican Rum
  • .75 oz Orange Curacao
  • .5 oz Galliano Vanilla
  • .75 oz Lime Juice


  • Add all of the ingredients to the shaker glass.
    2 oz Jamaican Rum, .75 oz Orange Curacao, .5 oz Galliano Vanilla, .75 oz Lime Juice
  • Shake with ice for 10-15 seconds.
  • Pour into a Martini glass.
  • Garnish with a Lime twist.
