Sparkling Amaretto Sour
This Sparkling Amaretto Sour Cocktail inspiration comes to us from the movie Elf. The Sparkling Amaretto Sour Cocktail does not show up in the movie. However, I think it would be good to pair with it. What is Elf, you ask? Elf is a Christmas movie, of course! The main character Buddy (Will Ferrell), a little human child, sneaks into Santa’s bag. He gets whisked away up north, where he is raised as an elf. Around 20 years later, he started looking around and realized that there isn’t something quite right. When you are four feet taller than everybody else, it might sink in that you may not be an elf. So, Buddy then goes to New York, where every Christmas family seems to live to meet his biological father.
What Happens Next…..
Walter (James Cann) opened his front door, only to be faced with a six-foot-tall man dressed like the mall version of Santa’s helper. Buddy introduces himself, telling Walter he is his “long-lost son.” And much like anybody else in the world, met with a stranger claiming to be your child, Walter closes the door on Buddy’s face. But following a chat with his wife, Walter lets Buddy into the house, and the faux-elf quickly becomes one of the family. However, to not divulge the entire movie plot, the best part of this whole movie is when Buddy is traipsing his way through the department store – but once he spots one of those Santa-for-hires, he walks up to that Santa and angrily states, “You sit on a throne of lies!”
All in all, Elf is your classic Christmas movie where there is always something chaotic going on, which has to do with belief and faith in Santa Claus and Christmas itself. In this movie’s case, the sleigh will not work if there’s not enough belief in Christmas, but it’s all sorted out by the film’s end, and Christmas is saved.
