Mojito

To ward off illness, a moonshine rum-type alcohol was mixed with mint, lime, and sugar cane syrup. When pirates invaded Cuba, the drink was introduced to Pirate Drake, who promptly used rum in place of the Cuban moonshine. The glass took on the name El Draque until it became the Mojito

Ingredients
 
 

  • 5-8 Mint Leaves
  • 2 oz White Rum
  • .75 oz Lime Juice
  • .75 oz Simple Syrup
  • 2 oz Soda Water

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients into a shaker glass except the soda.
    5-8 Mint Leaves, 2 oz White Rum, .75 oz Lime Juice, .75 oz Simple Syrup, 2 oz Soda Water
  • Shake with ice for 10-15 seconds.
  • Fine strain into a Highball glass with fresh ice.
  • Top with soda water.
  • Garnish with a sprig of mint.
